After a life spent amplifying others visions and creations, I answered a calling with no roadmap, absolute uncertainty yet no doubt, to launch One Golden Thread in 2016 as a For Benefit offering to the world.
It didn’t set out for it to be a clothing company.
One Golden Thread was my calling to share the reminder philosophy that despite curve balls our human condition throws at us, we are each golden inside, and this simple truth is what connects us together as a golden thread.
Thousands of golden threads were tied on “strangers no more” wrists, as I shared my condensed learned wisdom from 1000’s of hours of workshops, loveshops, mountaintops, sitting with plants, which congealed into a spoken word 4.44 Humanifesto.
I wished to ground One Golden Thread in the elemental. A number, 108, had been tapping me on the shoulder for 10 years. It appeared in an awakened dream, to be that thing. Always taking things apart and putting them back to together, I tinkered with the 108 in my mind. 8 represented infinite, O represented community, and the 1 was self. Yet I had realized that unless we start with self, begin within, community doesn’t connect and what’s infinite isn’t sustainable.
I met the genius gents at Empact Labs - Seth Bunting, Kris Kitch, and a 6’ 6” silent warrior of light, Christopher Pitcher.
One night at Pitcher’s Venice House invited to check out the latest in augmented reality, Pitcher pulls out a post it note, and sketchers one of the designs I had seen once before. “I don’t think you fully see it yet,” Christopher said in his magically neutral tone. See, if you were ever to bring this to life, like you wish to elementally, it would be two hearts dancing.” It hit me. And then, I said, “And yes, if you turned it on its side, it would be the flying butterfly.”
My first of many full channel hits, nipples hard, and with a yes fuck yes, this is it. One week later, synchronicity brought me face to face with the alchemist, Maor Cohen, and the rest is his tory.
Along the journey, I was introduced to the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, who coined the ancient Wisdom Order Interbeing, a philosophy placing Nature at the center of it all, that we are nature, combating the greatest lie told by humanity: the illusion of separation.
Synchronicity brought me into awareness that what we put on our bodies - something I never even considered - was dramatically impacting the health of our self and our Planet.
This bright mirror revealed to me I was part of this big and broad problem, wearing ego clothes that were contributing to my inflated connection to ego self, disconnection to feeling, and I was as guilty as anyone else of polluting the planet.
I birthed an obsession to create ethically-cozy clothes that support every one to look and feel as good as you truly are. Since we are nature, to wear Nature. To feel golden.
Good from Earth. A model that replenishes Earth. And makes us each feel dope as we walk the Earth.
I sought first to design what I always wanted and couldn’t find — the quintessential men’s fashion tee. Elongating to flatter and stand taller, arm-hugging sleeves, a neckline to flatter that part of male anatomy that gets overlooked, finished with plenty of raw edges (just like life).
Now we offer a full collection of lovestyle elementals designed with a healthy Earth in mind, with fabric and colors fit for life instead of seasons, “unisexy” for every body positive, styled for effortless ease, super-natureally cozy.
Where does my obsession with designing in co-servitude with Mother Earth come from?
No surprise, I was conceived on a river bank. My father is a naturalist, always diving us head-strong into nature. My mission’s muse is my beautiful and creative artist mother, Arlene Offer Scult. She taught me to look through life as artist’s lens, textures, colors, and shapes, and her art reflected nature and us as one.
My mother peacefully passed in March 2020 after a long goodbye with Alzheimers. To have her inspired colors weave in the fabric I create, will always feed my living legacy, of the joy I wish to spread on the daily.
I am guided by elemental design principles of exceptional quality, effortless ease and impeccable craftsmanship. I desire for clothes that become a part of us, to live in, sleep in, and rock out the next day in.
My most delicious goal? For each of us to just go hug ourselves.
And as we each do that, better together, we collectively create the never ending happy ending.
We are, better together.
Founded within the structure of a For Benefit, social good is at our core, and a give back impact will always be central to our ethos.
Goldenly, and in service,
Jeff + every hand that lovingly touched to weave these threads
